Ofer Prinz Setter
Ph.D. student
Biotechnology | Nanotechnology
I'm a biotechnology and food engineer, about to finish my Ph.D. studies at the Technion – Israeli Institute of Technology with previous 5-year experience in the pharmaceutical industry,
interested in the fascinating interface between biology and nanomaterials. Under the supervision of Prof. Ester Segal, I'm currently utilizing natural nanoclay for more efficient antibiotic treatment.
Searching for a postdoc position in a world-leading group to combine my expertise in impactful research with the aim of eventually taking part in Israel's next generation of academic leadership.
I believe in motivation and curiosity-derived scientific progress and aim to ignite the spark in others, as my mentors did (and still do) for me.

Here is my CV and a 3-min pitch
(only the second time for me to talk in front of a camera, be gentle)
The cool video on top (seen on the desktop version) depicts a 3D confocal microscopy visualization of colon epithelial cells (mitochondria-red, nuclei-blue) exposed to labeled clay particles (internalized clay-yellow, non internalized clay-green)

Leadership and Social Engagement
As early as my elementary school years I remember finding great pleasure in show-and-tell assignments - standing in front of my classroom explaining. In my army service, I gained more experience as a class commander teaching and developing class plans as well as attending to each of my student's personal challenges. The same skills assisted me in establishing a new array of lessons for analytical chemists as part of my job at Teva Pharmaceuticals LTD. After more than 10 years of scientific work and numerous workshops, I enjoy presenting my research and mentoring other high-school students, undergraduates as well as young graduates in their first steps.

In addition to my academic occupations, I play the piano. Music is my way to give a little bit back to the community that supports the very institute in which I study. And so, every week I drive down from Haifa to Kiryat Yam, where I volunteer as a pianist at the social center of the Israel Mental Health Association (ENOSH).
